This homemade dulce de leche ice cream with chocolate chips is creamy and rich in flavor. It’s a no-churn ice cream that is whipped up in 5 minutes!

If you want an easy homemade ice cream you can make without an ice cream machine, this dulce de leche version is perfect. It uses just a few simple ingredients and comes together in minutes.
I used store-bought dulce de leche for convenience — a ready-made caramel that adds deep, caramelized flavor without extra effort. It’s a great shortcut when you want something homemade fast.

How to make dulce de leche ice cream?
This recipe takes about 5 minutes of active time and requires only three ingredients: heavy whipping cream, dulce de leche (or caramel), and chocolate chips.
Start by whipping the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Fold in the dulce de leche until the mixture is smooth and evenly colored. Finally, gently stir in the chocolate chips.
Transfer the mixture into a freezer-safe container with a lid and freeze until firm. Using a container with a lid protects the ice cream from other freezer odors and helps it set evenly.
One of the best things about this no-churn dulce de leche ice cream is that it remains scoopable soon after you remove it from the freezer, making it easy to serve straight away.

I usually enjoy this caramel ice cream with a spoon, but it also tastes great on a cone. Choose whatever you prefer—spoon or cone.

Good to know:
- Adjust the amount of chocolate chips to taste — add more for extra crunch or omit them if you prefer a smoother texture.
- You can tweak the sweetness by adding more or less dulce de leche, though the recipe as written is pleasantly sweet.
- If you prefer, use homemade caramel instead of store-bought dulce de leche — either will work well.
