First, a confession. Before Sweet Loren’s changed their recipe, despite the front-label warning “Do Not Consume Raw Cookie Dough” (and the similar message on the back), we ate three-quarters of a package of this ready-to-bake, gluten-free, dairy-free chocolate chunk cookie dough straight from the bag.
We survived and it was incredibly tasty. (Still, for safety reasons, it’s worth noting you shouldn’t regularly eat raw cookie dough that isn’t specifically formulated to be eaten raw.)
Fortunately, Sweet Loren’s has reformulated its dough so it’s safe to eat raw. That said, I was curious how the gluten-free dough would perform when baked. The result matched the packaging claim: “insanely delicious.” The cookies come out fluffy, with an ideal texture, plenty of chocolate chunks, and that classic homemade-cookie flavor.
Sold in the refrigerated section of well-stocked grocery stores—often near items like crescent-roll dough—Sweet Loren’s gluten-free chocolate chunk cookie dough is portioned into 12 pre-shaped discs. Each disc is pressed flat on both sides so they slide easily onto a baking sheet and bake into 12 medium-sized, evenly shaped cookies (if you can resist sampling the raw dough first).
This product offers more than convenience and great flavor. If you have a package in the fridge, all it takes is preheating the oven and arranging the discs on a baking sheet to enjoy fresh-baked cookies in under 15 minutes. The discs can also be frozen for longer storage, so you can keep ready-to-bake cookies on hand. In addition, the dough is dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, and egg-free—making it suitable for many dietary needs.
The ingredient list is straightforward and recognizable, without unnecessary chemical-sounding additives, and the recipe uses non-GMO ingredients. That combination of clean ingredients and wide accessibility makes these cookies a reliable choice when you want an easy treat that many people can enjoy.
Sweet Loren’s chocolate chunk cookies? Absolutely yes.
