Wow — it finally feels like winter here in Florida! After unpacking from my girls’ weekend in New York City, I pulled out my heavier jacket and craved a warm breakfast. I love oatmeal, but sometimes you need something a little different. So I made Strawberry and Cream Cheese Breakfast Pastries with a Strawberry Dipping Sauce — warm, flaky, and just sweet enough to make getting out of bed worth it.

I’m in Tampa, Florida this weekend with a wonderful group from Sunday Supper exploring everything strawberry-related. Since fresh Florida strawberries are in season, I wanted to share a strawberry-inspired breakfast that’s both delicious and approachable. These pastries are great for breakfast, a sweet snack, or even a dessert topping.
As a registered dietitian, I can’t resist sharing some quick nutrition highlights about strawberries:
- A 1-cup serving (about 8 strawberries) has fewer than 50 calories.
- That serving contains less than 3 teaspoons of sugar and provides about 3 grams of fiber, which helps steady blood sugar.
- Strawberries are rich in anthocyanins — red pigments with antioxidant properties that may help protect cells.
- They also supply folate and manganese; folate supports pregnancy health and manganese contributes to bone health.
Now on to the recipe — simple ingredients and easy steps produce flaky, fruity pastries and a fresh strawberry dipping sauce.
