This microwave cleaning hack is my favorite way to keep our microwave fresh and spotless. I’m always looking for simple ways to clean the kitchen, and this method is quick and effective—especially with a busy household of six.

It’s very easy and doesn’t require much effort.
What you need:
– A small bowl of water (about 1/2 cup)
– 8 drops of lemon essential oil (or lemongrass for a different scent)
– 1 teaspoon vinegar (optional—helps loosen grime but not required)
– A damp cloth or sponge
Directions:
Pour the essential oil into the bowl of water. Microwave the bowl on high for about five minutes, then let it sit inside for an additional 4–5 minutes so the steam can work on loosening splatters and dried food. When you carefully remove the bowl, the steam will have softened the mess and you can simply wipe the interior with a damp cloth or sponge to remove residue.
You can use lemon oil for many cleaning tasks and household freshening ideas.

Vinegar is also versatile and works for many cleaning jobs around the kitchen.

After refreshing the microwave, consider tackling the refrigerator next to keep the whole kitchen organized and clean.
