Pressure cook the apples. Cook on high pressure for 10 minutes, then perform a quick release. When the pressure drops, open the lid, stir the apples, and let them cool slightly—the sauce will thicken as it cools.

Notes and Adaptations:

  • Any apple variety will work, but Granny Smith and Honeycrisp provide a great balance of flavor and texture. Mixing varieties creates more complex flavor.
  • For faster prep, leave the peels on or use an apple corer/slicer.
  • Serve the apples on their own, spoon them over pancakes or pound cake, pour over ice cream, or use as a pie filling for a quick twist on dessert.

Recommended Equipment:

  • Electric pressure cooker (Instant Pot DUO60 or similar)
  • Apple corer and slicer to speed prep
